Community Sport Development Grants
|
During
the 2009-10 year, Sport Manitoba - Central Region
granted over $24,000 to schools, recreation districts,
sport organizations, team, and individuals to help develop
sports across Central.
Don't

Speaking of Bingos...
|
Sport Manitoba Central Region is
pleased to announce the following Bingo opportunity:
SATURDAY, AUGUST 14, 2010
6:00 PM to 9:45 PM (New Evening Bingo
Session)
McPhillips Street
Station @ 484 McPhillips St., Winnipeg
The group(s) selected
to work this Bingo will provide a total of 7 volunteers (who must be
at least 18 years of age); will arrive at the Casino to work no later
than 5:45 PM; willhave an earning potential of $2,250.
In order to be considered for any Bingo,
a Bingo Application Form must be completed (attached) and must include a signed cover
letter indicating the nature of the sport development
initiative/event/program and the benefit expected should you receive
this grant. Please note that
uniforms and travel outside the province are not expenses
that are eligible for funding assistance.

2010 Active Healthy Kids Report
Card
|
ParticipACTION in partnership with Active healthy
Kids Canada has just released the 2010 Active Healthy Kids Report
Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth. It is available
online at http://www.activehealthykids.ca/.
The information on increasing physical activity in the early
years is targeted to:
Policy-makers
- Invest in active living for children
under five
- Ensure childcare policies mandate daily physical
activity and adequately resource staff
- Target caregivers with incentives
- Messaging to get kids active and be active with
them
Public Health & Healthcare Professionals
- Promote physical activity, active play, and
reduced screen time as part of early years support programs for
families
Parents
- Keep TVs out of bedrooms
- Institute screen time limits
- Create opportunities for active outdoor play
for kids and as a family
Early Childhood Educators & Schools
- Train and resource staff
- Offer a minimum of 90 minutes of daily active
play time, indoors and outdoors, structured and unstructured

MASRC Golf Tournament
|
MASRC
is holding their first annual golf tournament on June 11th and 12th.
Join MASRC to help support Aboriginal Athletes as they prepare for th
2011 North American Indigenous Games.
The
cost to enter is $125 per ticket, which entitles you to: 1 MASRC
t-shirt; 9 holes of golf (you may play a full 18 for an additional
$20); use of a power cart; choice of breakfast or 5 course dinner;
flexible tee times (from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm); and a chance of winning
merchandise and cash prizes.
